A traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal filter that naturally filters your water and makes your tap water taste great.
How it works:
Binchotan charcoal has an incredibly porous surface with tiny cavities oriented in many directions. Just 1 gram has a surface area in excess of 500 m2 (about one tenth the size of a football field). It is also known as active carbon as the ions of contaminants are attracted to the surface of the carbon, where they will be held. It is able to release minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium back into the water which enhances its taste and health benefits.
How long does it last?
If you are using a bottle/jug and fill it up once a day, then the filter should last three months. You are then able to recharge it by boiling it in water for ten minutes and then leaving to dry in sunlight. You should be able to keep recharging it for a further three months.

When you have finished using your binchotan as a water filter, it still has many secondary uses. If you break it up and put it in your house plants, it will add nutrients to the soil that will help the plant to grow. Because of its porous surface, it can be used as a deodoriser to remove unwanted odors in your cat litter, laundry basket, nappy bin or shoes. Binchotan is also an effective moisture absorbent, and can help absorb humidity in the air if placed in a wardrobe.
Please note that the charcoal filter comes vacuum packed in plastic.
Only just recently bought this. Have it put in a 3litre container in fridge. I def feel the water tastes better. Again it's so reasonable and well worth giving it a go.
I have been using these for around a year and I wouldn't be without them now! I have one in my waterjug at home and another for work. Really makes a difference to the taste of the water.
I'll be honest, I was dubious about this product, to begin with. I wondered how it could filter my water as well as my current Brita one.
Well, as it turns out, it can! Not only does it change our chlorinated, hard water into something drinkable ( it tastes nice now!), but it's done it consistently for almost six months. When I compare my current filters' cost to this one, well, it's a total bargain. Everyone should try this.
I was a bit dubious if a simple stick of charcoal could really get rid of the taste of chlorine in the water and I am so so happy to say: IT DOES!!!
Even one hour of filtering makes a difference already. And with one stick lasting 6 months this is incredible value for money! Highly recommend!
I purchased this recently and am absolutely thrilled with it. So simple to use and I have noticed a huge difference in the taste and smell of the water from the first use. Great value for the usage you get out of it (compared to plastic brita cartridges) and such simple disposal. Highly recommend!
